The Falak Almanac (AF) is jointly published by the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia and Office of
Almanac, Faculty of Geoinformation Engineering and Sciences,
Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Skudai. Its calculations are directly based on the fundamental theories of planetary motion and no data are taken directly from any existing almanac or ephemeris.
The main purpose of publishing the Falak Almanac (AF) is to provide the data required for shariah-based falak calculations such as determining the calendar, prayer times and imsak, and the provision of data for hilal rukyah.
All data in the Falak Almanac (AF) refer to Malaysian Standard Time (MST) where the standard longitude is + 120° E (+ 8 hours east). This will further facilitate the extraction of data for calculations.
